I grew up with the Harry. I went through everything with him. And when my life got hard he is who I went to. I’d read and reread the books and watch and rewatch the movies. It got me through some of the toughest times in my life. That why this is my first tattoo, but definitely not my last.
I am so in love with my HP piece! It’s been a long time coming and I’m so lucky to have found an artist who loves Potter as much as I do.
It was done by the lovely Kitty Dearest in Melbourne. You can find her here: http://instagram.com/kittydearest
Name suggestions for my cat are welcome!

My tattoo on my left wrist. “Expecto Patronum,” a spell from Harry Potter. This is a light spell that protects against the darkness and the “dementors,” which are a symbol of the author’s struggle with depression herself. I got it near my self harm scars to remind myself that there is always light in the dark.
Done by Charlie at Enemy Tattoo in Everett, Washington.

Double Harry Potter Chapter starts, and a quote, to show off my Gryffindor pride!
“You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;”
I had this done at Mojo’s rising tattoo in Massena NY, by an artist named Morgan Plantz. It’s everything I was hoping it would be and more!
My first tattoo, which I got yesterday. I started reading Harry Potter when I was 6 years old and now, 13 years later, it’s still an immense part of my life. It’s given me happiness, turned me into a voracious reader and lover of fantasy, and was the catalyst to me realizing I wanted to be a writer. I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.
Here is my back piece that I may or may not add to one day. I desperately need the black lettering touched up and I know my back is unfortunately very red (sunscreen doesn’t always work).
It says “It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities”
Harry means the absolute world to me and he always has. He kept me alive when I didn’t think there was a reason to be and for that I will forever be grateful. This quote reminds me that I choose who I want to be in life and Harry and his world surrounding it remind me that he has helped shape me to be who I am today.
I got this piece done by Jay Hernandez at Our Lady of Ink in Secaucus, NJ (http://www.jayhernandeztattoos.com)
This photo was taken 2 years ago when I was 16 years old. This is my first of 4 tattoos and it’s my number one :)

The Harry Potter series has helped me through a really difficult time in my life. Whenever I was anxious or sad, I’d sit down and read Harry Potter. I will always cherish the books and the life JK Rowling gave me.
Whenever I feel an anxiety attack coming on and I need to calm myself down I repeat “Expecto Patronum.” Therapists have tried to teach that to me for years but it was when I read the books it became clear to me: one happy memory can drive away all the sad ones and fight to keep going. I can thank Jo, Harry, and Remus for this valuable lesson.
The reason I didn’t get “Expecto Patronum” as my tattoo was because a) I didn’t want words and b) when I look at, what I consider, the symbol of the last book, I think of the adventures Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to get to the end. And in the end… All was well.
I’ve wanted this for years and finally got the nerve to do it a couple of weeks ago. Harry Potter means a great deal to me and this tattoo just symbolises that for me. I really do love it.
It was tattooed at Peanut Tattoos in East Kilbride, Scotland.
